For those friends who don't yet know, in February I'm headed north! I'll be moving my main papermaking operation to the beautiful border town of Berwick upon Tweed. We will still have a base in Walthamstow, and I'll still be teaching at Morley College and West Dean College and other southern gigs, just with a longer commute! I will still be making paper pulp for pick-up either in Berwick or in London by arrangement. I'll be relaunching the website and web shop in the new year, and will run workshops in Berwick too. It will take me a little while to get everything up and running, but I hope to be fully operational in time for the busy summer season. Give us a wave from the Edinburgh train as you cross the Tweed, or even better, stop off and see us - we'll be at 16 Bridge Street.
I'll be teaching a great 3D course at Morley in February/March, concentrating on the vessel form. Details of all my upcoming Morley courses can be found here:
Meanwhile, a London Papermakers’ exhibition is in the early planning stages. We are currently exploring venues, so do let me know if you know of any galleries that might be interested in hosting a group show.
If you previously followed me on Instagram, my old account was strangely taken down by them for reasons that remain a mystery, but not to be deterred, I’ve started a new one! Links to that and Facebook page with regular updates in the top right corner.
Do get in touch any time using the contact page or Facebook. We can arrange a studio visit or customised workshop for up to four people, adults or children - anything from an introduction to papermaking to more specialised areas. If you are an artist or student who wishes to incorporate handmade paper into a project, I would be happy to help. I also provide a very reasonably-priced fibre processing service if you don't have access to a beater.
Lucy is available to teach papermaking and bookbinding workshops for adults and children by arrangement. Please use the contact page to discuss your requirements.
